Dreamwork Therapy
A meaningful process for the dreamer
Dreamwork history
Dreams have inspired discoveries, masterpieces, and inventions for centuries. From philosophers and scientists to psychologists, dreams have long intrigued us all. Then in 1900, Sigmund Freud published The Interpretation of Dreams. It introduced the idea of using dreams in psychotherapy. Freud believed that dreams were comprised of manifest latent content that could be interpreted by the use of free association. Carl Jung developed the idea further by using dreams in ways that were directed more at the participants in therapy. In the 1930s Alfred Adler used the idea of dreamwork for patient personality problem-solving.
The Dreamwork therapy process
The first task is to identify associations. What is happening in waking life that relates to the dream. What is the language, objects and symbols of the dream? This is a look at the overall meaning. The use of interpretation and a look at individual emotional components. After all of that, insight is gained, through a psychodynamic approach. Other forms of therapy may be used to work with the insight gained through the work with dreams.
Dream Tending
Dream Tending is a whole new way to gain insight into how we can access our dreams, engage our innate genius, and contribute to the world creatively.
Exploring our dream paradigm allows us to cultivate our creativity and innovation, develop more meaningful connections, and build a better and more meaningful future for all you come in contact with.
Developed and pioneered by Stephen Aizenstat, Ph.D., his belief is that Dream Tending reveals the DNA of our individual and planetary evolution and its encoding in the images in our dreams. Dr. Aizenstat also submits that dream images are not only within us, but that they exist all around us and give meaning to our lives.
Dream tending activates deep imagination, allowing you to recognize your place and your planetary journey. You can overcome obsessions, compulsions and addictions, and bring new warmth and energy to your relationships, build a better career, experience life more vibrantly, and align with your soul’s purpose.
Body Dreamwork
Answers come from within the body. This is called the “felt sense.” This “body-felt” quality has more information than we know. There are many intricate ways that our bodies interact with our situations that are too abstract to think about.
Bodily checking is quite different from mere talking. A spoken exchange has a rhythm that many times does not allow for the extent to which responding with the whole body does.
Instead of viewing our dreams negatively, consider that dreams are code for a hidden life-energy that leads to problem solving. It is a path on which to travel.
In bodywork the images go beyond our stuck problems. If an individual’s usual energy is constrained or disrupted, a shift to a positive life-forward energy can be clearly observed in posture, face, and breath. In the dream, this new energy is often invisible. This energy shows up when the individual lives bodily from the dream images.
